Our favourite celebrity couples that have stood the test of time

While some of us are struggling to hold down a romance until the end of winter, some of Mzansi’s much-loved celebs have been serving #lovegoals for decades

For many millennials being in a relationship for that long is difficult to even comprehend, and maybe that’s why the divorce rate was at its highest in 2016.

In 2016 research by Stats SA indicated that the rate of marriages had decreased, while the rate of divorce increased by 5%.

But we’re not here to bore you with those figures and neither are some of our fave celebs who have been inspiration to couples for years.

Celebity couples like Connie and Shona Ferguson have built a thriving empire in the entertainment industry and still manage to keep the flame alive after being married for 16 years.

So no matter what those statisticians say, there’s still hope fam!

Here’s our pick of ultimate celeb romances…

Basetsana and Romeo Kumalo

In December last year Bassie and Romeo celebrated 17 years of marriage.

Even though their marriage has been rocked by numerous rumours over the years, they’ve managed to remain a power couple of note.

Seventeen years ago on this day, I walked down the aisle to marry the man of my dreams, my soulmate, my lover, my friend, my confidant, my inspiration, my person, my best friend. The one who believes the best of me, takes care of my heart, protects me, stands by me and loves all of me. Mntungwa thank you for choosing me to spend your life with. You bring me deep and immense joy. When God brought you into my life, He sure smiled at me. Thank you for all that you are to me and our #Tribe. As the years go by, I fall in love with you over and over again. My prayer for you is that the Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you, the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Happy Seventeen Wedding Anniversary my baby. I love you Mntungwa ❤ #MyLifetimePartner #MyHeartBeat #MyInspiration #FatherOfTheTribe
