Onana’s errors prove he’s not Manchester United material

Andre Onana arrived with talent, without protection, and he’s shown he’s not the man for United, writes DYLAN JOHNSON.

While some have harshly labelled Onana a flop, writing for Soccermag, Dylan argues the truth is more complex. Onana is not a bad goalkeeper—he’s shown quality at Inter Milan, playing a key role in their Champions League final run and cup successes—but he’s not the answer at Old Trafford.

Since joining United, he’s been left exposed by a broken defensive structure, regularly facing overwhelming pressure and shot volume. Although there have been flashes of his ability, his frequent mistakes, like those in the Lyon draw, stand out. Dylan believes United’s broader issues mean replacing Onana isn’t a priority, but that doesn’t make him the right long-term choice.
