Kaizer Chiefs chase another major upset as they take on Orlando Pirates in a high-stakes Soweto Derby final, writes Dylan Johnson.

Chiefs’ dramatic 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final has set up a thrilling clash with their fiercest rivals. After falling behind to a Teboho Mokoena strike, Amakhosi responded with second-half goals from Wandile Duba and Ashley Du Preez. Writing for Soccermag, Johnson argues a trophy would be a crucial response to criticism and a much-needed moment of joy for their fans.

Pirates, meanwhile, edged Marumo Gallants 1-0 thanks to Kabelo Dlamini’s early strike and are unbeaten in 14 Nedbank Cup matches. Jose Riveiro’s men are eyeing a third straight final win before his departure. With silverware at stake, the derby’s intensity is set to soar, it’s redemption versus dominance in South Africa’s biggest football showdown.
