It’s never too late to go back to school – Woman returns to school at 33

by Silindokuhle Booi

Growing up, we have heard stories from our parents saying “Isikolo asigugelwa [You do not age for school], and it never made sense.

Well, as the years goes by and I find myself in a lecture room with people old enough to be my parents. Indeed, age is nothing but a number and that should not stop you from chasing your dreams.

A lady shared a video on her TikTok account @mpumimlambo explaining how eager she was about completing her studies, but because she faced a lot of challenges, she could not.

Now that she is 33 and has the means to finance the furthering of her studies, she shared that she is going back to university to further her studies in Psychology as she proves that it is never too late to chase your dreams.

With her video receiving a lot of traction from mostly people who had the same challenges, they continued to praise her for putting herself in front, even though we know and understand the societal pressure she will be put in.

In her caption, she revealed that she is nervous but glad she has the audacity. She also said that she won’t die without having a degree. I stan a queen when I see one.

@mpumimlambo_ Ohhh and my attention span is non existent for now ?? . #psychologystudent #fyp #SAMA28 ♬ original sound – Boitshepo

With her comment section blowing up with people sharing their experiences of going back to school at an older age, giving her a thumbs up for taking that decision.

Education will definitely never be outdated. Go fetch your degree, it is very much possible.
