The suspects — one man and two women — were arrested over the weekend by members of the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court sometime today, 21 September 2026. The arrests follow the discovery of the woman’s body at a development site in Villa Liza on Thursday, 17 September.

Who are the 3 suspects?

According to reports, no suspects have been named so far. SAPS national spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said, “Police are seized with all nine murder cases, with each case receiving priority attention.

“We remain committed to ensuring that these investigations are pursued with the urgency and determination they require. Our investigators are following all available leads and working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”

Police also confirmed that the victim was found partially clothed and had sustained severe injuries, including what appeared to be a fatal injury to her throat. She was believed to be between 20 and 30 years old.

With this discovery, it has now risen to nine women whose bodies have been found in and around Ekurhuleni since July, prompting a major investigation by law enforcement agencies.

Police intensify investigation

The latest arrests could provide investigators with further information about the circumstances surrounding the Villa Liza killing.

However, details about the suspects’ identities, the exact charges they face, and whether they are allegedly linked to any of the other cases are expected to emerge through the court process.

As the three suspects prepare to appear in court, investigators are expected to continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the Villa Liza murder and determine whether there are any links to the other cases under investigation.
