What’s in Mampho Brescia’s handbag?

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

We spent an afternoon with Mampho Brescia, the star of the new The Jakes Are Missing movie and snuck a peek into the actress’ purse. Here’s what we found.

By: Linda Mali

If someone didn’t know who owned this bag they would think… I am a total mess and a make-up junkie!

The thing that takes up the most space in my handbag is…my make-up bag. It literally has everything in it! I bring everything with me because I don’t want to be lacking one day when I need a product. That would be the worst.

My daughter, Rain’s toys used to litter my handbag… but since she turned two, she has her own bag! She watches what I do so she wants her own bag. In her bag she has her own make-up and sunglasses. She wants her own stuff!

My personal style is… indefinable; it’s everything and anything! If it looks good, I’ll wear it – I’m risky like that. It’s got to suit my body, but I’m not afraid to do goth or go punk. I never follow trends because I don’t want to be influenced. I try to put my own looks together.  The only thing I don’t do is African print. It needs a certain sophistication that I don’t possess, so I can’t pull it off. I have class, but I’m not regal enough to wear African print.

I shop everywhere… second-hand stores, retail chains or boutiques. I’m not a brand snob.

Don’t forget that The Jakes Are Missing is currently in cinemas across the country. Here’s a trailer for the film here…
