Skincare products that every over 30-year-old needs

by Ncumisa Lerato Kunana
A guide to healthier skin

Let’s start with how your skin has changed since you were in your twenties. Your hormone levels start to drop in your 30s, and collagen and elastin are produced at a slower rate. “Cell turn-over becomes slower during your thirties, and skin doesn’t bounce back as it once did,” says Lorraine Scrivener, a skin specialist at Eden Skin Clinic.

You’re not alone if you’ve perhaps been a little careless with your skincare routine; how well you took care of your skin in the past will have an impact on how quickly you age.

Knowing what the best skincare routine to use in your 30s is can be a nightmare. Not only that, but this is the decade where fine lines, dullness and dryness become prominent. We will provide a list of skincare products to incorporate into your routine courtesy of Beauty On Tap.

Hydration

Hylauronic acid serum – This hydrates and plumps skin and keeps fine lines and wrinkles away.

Face Masks – Face masks are great for hydration and targeting skin concerns.

Toners / Mists – These are a great source of hydration. Toners also help your skin absorb serum ingredients much better.

Fine lines and wrinkle reduction

Ceramides and peptides – These help protect and repair your skin barrier by forming a fatty layer over your skin.

Retinol – This helps increase your cell turnover, exposing newer and fresher skin. This process also helps reduce acne, smooth skin and even out skin tone.

Collagen – Collagen helps fortify your skin and can be added tour your morning shake.

Sun and eye protection

Eye cream – adding eye cream to your routine helps keep the bags and dark circles away.

Sunscreen – This is a must no matter your routine or age. The sun does permanent damage to the skin.

Vitamin C -This has multiple benefits for the skin, including being a great anti-oxidant, brightening dull screen and protecting skin from sun damage.
