A South African TikToker took aim at President Cyril Ramaphosa, questioning his silence amid growing concern over gender-based violence (GBV) and the deaths of women in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.

TikTok creator @ohthatstoz used a diss track to voice frustration over the president’s response to the ongoing crisis, turning the criticism into a musical performance shared on social media.

The creator’s lyrics focus on the concerns surrounding the killings of women in the Kempton Park area, as calls for stronger action against GBV continue to grow.

The deaths have sparked widespread public concern, with activists, community members and public figures calling for greater protection for women and accountability from authorities.

TikToker questions Cyril Ramaphosa’s response

The performance comes after the discovery of the bodies of several women in and around Ekurhuleni, with the cases prompting renewed national discussion about violence against women.

Among those killed was Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo, a 38-year-old mother who disappeared while out for a run in Kempton Park. Her death has become a focal point in the wider conversation around the safety of women in the area.

The TikToker’s post reflects the frustration expressed by some members of the public who want the country’s political leadership to respond more visibly to the crisis.

Kempton Park killings spark national concern

Police investigations into the deaths of women in the Ekurhuleni area are continuing.

Authorities have urged anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward, while increased police visibility has been announced in affected communities.

The cases have also prompted protests, memorial events and public calls for action against GBV.

Activists have questioned whether enough is being done to protect women, particularly as communities continue to grapple with reports of women going missing and being found dead.

Social media becomes a platform for criticism

For @ohthatstoz, music has become a way to express those concerns directly.

The diss track has added to a growing body of social media commentary surrounding the Kempton Park killings, with South Africans using platforms such as TikTok and X to demand answers and draw attention to GBV.

The performance represents the TikToker’s own criticism of Ramaphosa and his perceived response to the crisis. It does not represent an official statement from the president or government.

As investigations into the deaths continue, the conversation around GBV, women’s safety and the government’s response remains firmly in the public spotlight.
