The late US politician, Eleanor Roosevelt once said: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” SA’s historical stalwart, Nelson Mandela also has a fair share of quotes about education.

One TikTok user and passionate educator, Katlego Moragane has recently put this quote to full use after engaging in a fun and interactive activity with the learners in her care.

To make classroom activities more engaging, Katlego, who goes by the username @katli_mo, shared a video on the social media platform in which she challenged her learners to share some of the dream jobs they would like to pursue once done with school. However, her method of doing so was slightly different from how some of us may remember doing it during our childhood.

Making full use of the digital age we living this passionate teacher created a TikTok trend by writing her own occupation behind her hand, before flipping it to accommodate the career aspirations of her learners.

Among the career paths and dreams listed by the ambitious pupils were businesswoman, pilot, soccer player, soldier, CEO, nurse, doctor, truck driver, and flight attendant; one dream that received many reactions was a billionaire.

TikTok users took turns to weigh in on the comment section.

One user commented: “This is how you should call them when marking the register CEO Busi Mhlongo, General Sipho Mkhize, Siya Ngcobo logistics, teacher Grace, Dollar billionaire Dr Sbu Sgwili.”

Another one commented: “From their mouths to God’s ear and the universe to play its part.”

While another user, judging by the lack of employment in South Africa added: “Truck driver uyena muntu obeseduze neqiniso lempilo (is the only one close to reality).”
