Netflix South Africa continues to expand its growing catalogue of African originals with the release of The Polygamist. This gripping drama series premiered globally earlier today, 12 June 2026.
Adapted from the acclaimed novel by Zimbabwean-born author Sue Nyathi, the series delivers a compelling story of ambition, betrayal, family conflict and the hidden costs of power.

As previously reported, the centre of the drama is Jonasi Gomora, who is a self-made business tycoon whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel as the secrets of his complicated personal relationships come to light.
What appears to be a story about wealth and success quickly evolves into an emotional exploration of loyalty, deception, and the consequences of living multiple lives.

The Polygamist cast
Leading the cast are S’dumo Mtshali as Jonasi Gomora and Gugu Gumede as Joyce Gomora, a social media darling whose picture-perfect marriage is shattered by revelations about her husband’s affairs and hidden relationships.
Other familiar South African faces you can look forward to seeing are Sophie Ndaba, Olly Zondi, Tino Chinyani, and Celeste Ntuli, just to name a few.
