South African rapper Ntokozo Mdluli, professionally known as K.O, cleared up the air after being accused by tweeps for allegedly stealing the beats to his hit song Sete.

Taking to his Twitter timeline,  he set the record straight by revealing he purchased the beat on an online platform.

“How artists/beatmakers collab in today’s largely virtual music industry. I bought the #SETE beat on an online platform via @Calliemajik‘s page (original producer). Discovered other artists had used it so we replaced some sounds to make mine unique.

“I hold full unlimited rights to the license of the instrumental I bought, which is why the artists who put out their own versions rightfully cannot dispute mine because we’re all governed by the same or lesser copyright. Normal practice in today’s music world,” he explained.

SETE has landed the rapper in the number one spot on radio charts for weeks after its release, SETE hit the number one spot in South Africa, becoming the fastest streaming single to hit number one for weeks in local music history.

“Thought Caracara was my biggest moment. God said hold up big dawg. #SETE #1 across all platforms and radio at the same time, crossed double plat on Saturday. Most viral on SA TikTok with no challenge? Video 5 mil in 3 weeks!? #SR3 sitting at #1. When the blessings rain they pour,” he wrote.

Radiomonitor South Africa announced last year that SETE was in the number one spot for 12 consecutive weeks.

“K.O, Young Stunna and Blxckie’s SETE becomes the first ever song (local or international) to stay in the #1 position for 12 consecutive weeks on the official @radiomonitorsa airplay chart. Congratulations on a new record! #k.o #youngstunna #blxckie”
