Seputla Sebogodi’s send-off was nothing short of dramatic, as his sister, Mary Kau, reportedly threw shade toward her late brother’s wife of six months, Machuene Rosina Semenya, at the burial site.
Per his widow’s request, Seputla was buried at Silicon Cemetery in Polokwane, a location Mary and her family were allegedly against, kilometres away from the preferred ancestral burial site in Ga-Mothapo. The 67-year-old wanted her brother to be buried next to their mother.
The veteran actor died on 15 July 2026 at 63 following diabetes-related complications and was buried on 25 July 2026.

According to Daily Sun, Mary temporarily disrupted the proceedings during a clan poem recital at the gravesite. Following the poem’s conclusion, Mary reportedly stated:
“Rest well, my mother’s son. Don’t have any doubts. We are not the ones who brought you here. It’s your wife who did that.”
The publication adds that people stopped Mary from continuing.

Internet comments on family feud
The eventful funeral had several social media users gathering in the comment section with their thoughts.
@nal_bby thought, “Their parents were buried together away from their own siblings. Shouldn’t Seputla be afforded the same right? Also, assuming the sister is married, would she not want to be buried with her husband?”
“Unnecessary drama,” commented @SolixBucs.
@kagisodoc shared their opinion and claimed, “It has never been about her brother; it’s about them and their interests! Selfish siblings.”
