Media personality Dineo Langa (née Moeketsi) spoke her mind and defended her mother, Kgomotso ‘KG’ Moeketsi, after the veteran radio personality planned to take legal action against her former employers.

Dineo Langa supports KG Moeketsi
After KG shared a lengthy statement on 5 August 2026 about her controversial departure from SAFM, Dineo reshared the post on her Instagram Story, writing, “How my mom was done dirty.”
According to the statement shared, KG’s contract was terminated on 15 July 2026 after Ferdinand Mabalane, the station’s new Programme Manager, led an internal investigation.
How was KG Moeketsi ‘done dirty?’
KG, who remained silent about the matter for several weeks, said that despite writing to SABC executives and board members, she allegedly received no meaningful response.
She claimed that when Ferdinand joined the team and was introduced to the staff in March 2026, he publicly referred to KG as someone who had allegedly contributed to his departure at Kaya FM, a claim she finds inaccurate.
“My professional relationship with him at Kaya FM lasted only a few months in the early 2000s. At the time, staff were informed that shareholders wanted different leadership, and that was the extent of my understanding of his departure.
“Although I hoped to discuss and clarify this matter with him, that opportunity never arose.”

A (literal) disconnect with listeners
On 31 May 2026, KG suffered complete technical failure 40 minutes into her broadcast. For almost two hours, the radio host couldn’t access tools to do her job. Emergency measures were implemented to keep the station on air.
Noting that it was the second major technical breakdown in a matter of months—situations beyond her control—KG added:
“While driving home after the broadcast, I received a message from Mr Mabalane asking me to urgently respond to an email he had sent. Given the severity of the transmission failure, I assumed the communication related to that incident. It did not!”
The email was allegedly about KG’s interaction with a listener the day before. The individual felt offended when their song request was met with the response: “Why don’t you play it for yourself, though?”
KG explained in the statement that her show was built around music discovery and not listeners’ song requests.
She was dismissed a few days after writing a “strongly worded” email expressing her concerns about the transmission breakdown and her perceived lack of urgency around the matter.
Off to the courts
KG added that she was unaware of the suspension letter and did not receive it on her phone due to storage issues. When she arrived at the station on 6 June 2026 to present her programme, a colleague had already filled the slot.
“I was informed that I should not be broadcasting. I subsequently received a charge sheet and was instructed to submit a response by 9 June.”
Despite meeting the deadline, KG was allegedly told that additional matters were being investigated. She also claims that she was not compensated for her work after sending an invoice. The payment was allegedly withheld as it formed part of the broader investigation against her.
Not sitting back or letting things slide, KG revealed at the end of the statement that she was raising funds to challenge her former employers in the High Court.
“Since sharing parts of my experience privately, I have heard from numerous presenters and freelancers who feel they have experienced similar treatment but lacked the resources to challenge it.
“I am asking for support from those who believe that contracts should be honoured, that due process matters, and that no individual should be denied a fair hearing simply because they lack institutional power.”
