Another day, another delay in the Musa Khawula murder case

by Staff Bona

Controversial blogger and social media personality Musa Khawula has requested an isiZulu interpreter for his murder trial, which has now been postponed to October 1.

The high-profile case continues to draw public attention due to Musa’s notorious online persona and the severity of the charges.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Western Cape spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila confirmed the delay, stating: “The case of Musa Khawula was on the roll at Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court and has been remanded to October 1 for judicial confirmation and [to secure] isiZulu interpreter,” according to TimesLive.

Musa, who has gained a large following for his scathing and often controversial commentary on South African celebrities, is accused of fatally stabbing his then-boyfriend, Wandile Khambule, in March 2022.

In a candid interview, Musa admitted to stabbing and killing Wandile but maintained that his actions were in self-defence, as reported by IOL.

The murder trial is just one of several legal battles Musa has found himself embroiled in over recent years. He is serving a 60-day sentence for failing to appear in a Gauteng court related to a civil case.

In another notable case, he was ordered to pay R1 million in damages and issue a public retraction after making defamatory allegations against Nozuko Mbalula, the wife of ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, and her business partner, Michelle Perrow.

Musa had accused the pair of bribery in securing government contracts worth R150 million.

He was also found guilty in a separate defamation case involving businessman Jade Harris Orren.
