Connie and Shona Fergusons’ production company Ferguson Films has released a statement following Vatiswa Ndara’s open letter to Minister Nathi Mthethwa.
In it, the company states that it supports the call for the industry to be regulated and the Performance Protection Amendment Bill to be signed into law. It says in part: “As actors ourselves and producers, we are aware of the challenges facing the entertainment industry. We support 100% a need for the industry to be regulated and for the Performance Protection Amendment Bill to be signed sooner rather than later. With that said, the allegations made by the various actors do not reflect the true position of the industry and paints a false picture, that may mislead the public.”

The statement also addresses Vatiswa Ndara’s claims with regard to its offer for her to reprise her role on the third season of the drama series, Igazi. The company shares that following negotiations with Vatiswa’s management failed, they decided to move on.
The statement says in part: “She had absolutely every right to decline our offer, which she did, and we on the other hand as we could not meet her financial demand, due to contractual restraints, had every right to move on amicable, which we tried to do.”
