Vatiswa Ndara on her book

Our September cover star and award-winning actress Vatiswa Ndara chats to us about her new book, I am… because of you. By Kwanele Mathebula

1. The support I’ve received from my fans inspired this book. I wanted a way to express my gratitude to those who have supported my career and contributed to its success. That is why I named the book I am… because of you.

Finally!! Launching soon. #IAmBecauseOfYou #StillIRise #Growth #Gratitude #actor

2. The book is a compilation of personal messages. My selection process was based on sharing messages that uplifted my spirit and wanting to thank those who wrote them. I then compiled them into a book. It also features some of my peers and colleagues in the entertainment industry, with a beautiful foreword from singer Sibongile Khumalo.

3. Readers can expect a heartfelt, humorous and inspiring book. They will also be able to recognise themselves or parts of their lives in it, just like they would ordinarily connect with some of my on-screen characters.

4. Through this book, I hope to also raise the spirit of ubuntu. I want to stand up and raise the names of those who contribute, champion and encourage us as actors. I hope to remind people to take a step back and remember those who have played a role and contributed to who and where they are today.
