How to transition your skincare routine

by Bona staff

As the temperatures rise, days become longer. This comes with more sun exposure, which means your skin requires a new set of tools. Bevan Heath, a skincare expert at Trinity Pharma, says the hot and humid weather affects the skin’s protective outer layer, which can lead to breakouts. By Grace Mantjiu

He offers the following tips to help rejuvenate your skin and leave you with a fresh face:

1. Double cleansing – Washing your face once might not remove all the dirt and unwanted oils. So, remember to use a deep-cleansing toner afterwards.

2. Never leave home without sunscreen – We all love spending time in the sun, so make sure to apply sunscreen daily to protect your skin from sun damage.

3. Change your moisturizer – Because the air is dry in winter, we require extra moisture. But as it heats up, a rich moisturizer can cause acne. So, turn to gel-based moisturizers.

4. Reassess your make-up – We all react to products differently, so pay attention to how your skin responds to the foundation you use. If it looks as if your skin is becoming oily, change to a mattifying product.

5. Stay hydrated – Not only will your skin love you for it, so will your body! Drinking a lot of water can help to improve your skin’s elasticity and boost your immune system.
