The track brings together several artists from Murumba’s record label Pitch Sounds, including Swiss Wrld, Crosswavee, Remmie, Ashley Shane and KayMo Grillz. Together, they deliver a collaborative release aimed at bringing feel-good energy to listeners ahead of the festive season.
For Murumba, however, the song also represents something more personal: the freedom to explore his own sound.
Mathye Vho Murumba on the meaning behind Ingoma Yam
Translated from isiZulu, Ingoma Yam means ‘My Song.’
“As a solo artist, Ingoma Yam represents growth, independence, and the opportunity to express myself in a way that reflects my individual artistic identity,” the music producer tells BONA.
The release also highlights the creative possibilities within Pitch Sounds, with each featured artist contributing to a record built around a shared vision.
Murumba says the team wanted to get the sound and feeling right, creating something fresh that audiences could enjoy in different settings, whether driving, spending time with friends, or dancing.
Beyond its entertainment value, he hopes the song encourages listeners to embrace their own creativity.

Mathye Vho Murumba’s journey beyond Murumba Pitch
Although Ingoma Yam marks another step in his solo career, it is not Murumba’s first release since embarking on the journey independently.
He previously released the Emmanuel EP, followed by the single Ithemba. Each project has contributed to his ongoing process of discovering what he wants to communicate through his music.
Moving away from a duo has given him more room to make independent creative decisions and experiment with different sounds.
“Being part of a duo was an important chapter in my musical career, and it contributed to the experience and foundation I carry with me today,” he shared.
For the artist, moving forward does not mean abandoning his musical roots. Instead, it is about building on those experiences while establishing himself in his own right.

Album on the horizon
Murumba’s ambitions extend beyond his latest single. He is already working on an album that he hopes to release early next year.
The project will offer listeners a deeper understanding of his musical identity as he continues to grow his audience, pursue collaborations and work towards performing on more stages.
“Beyond the album, I want to strengthen my relationship with my fans, expand my reach, and continue contributing to the growth of Pitch Sounds alongside the other artists on the label.”
For now, Ingoma Yam is another step in that process, allowing Murumba to explore his independence while remaining connected to the creative community around him.
