Romantic Dates In Spring

Spring is all about new beginnings and fresh starts. If you have a brand new love that’s blooming, an old love that you’d love to renew or even if you’re single, you can team up with another singleton and get away for a day at the lovely places below.

couple-on-a-date

Visit a Botanical Garden

The Johannesburg Botanical Garden is a great place to go for a picnic or a stroll with your sweetheart. With different gardens to show (the Rose Garden, Shakespeare Garden, Herb Garden, Chapel Garden and the main arboretum), the mood is already set for a fresh start.

Visit the Johannesburg Planetarium

Housed at Wits University, the Planetarium is a lovely place to go for a closer look at the stars and the moon and learn more about the planets in the solar system. This is an inexpensive date idea and will impress your partner for its simplicity. Visit www.planetarium.com to see when shows are being held.

Go To a Spa

Johannesburg has a variety of spas whose services come at very reasonable prices. If you and your lover/friend could use body massages and maybe some facials by professionals, then invest in a date at the spa where you will both indulge in feelings of relation and bond at a place far away from traffic noises, computer lights and other technologies that could be coming between the two of you.

Picnic on a Boat at Zoo Lake

A great and peaceful place for a picnic, the Zoo Lake also offers rowing services on sunny days. Be sure to have a basket filled with goodies, wear sunscreen and a sun hat, and bring some crumbs of bread to feed the ducks. If your date feels a little short-lived you can continue into the zoo to view the animals. The Zoo Lake also has a restaurant, bar, tennis courts, bowling grounds…this will be a day to remember.

Northcliff Water Towers

After a long sunny day of relaxing with your partner, end the day off with a drive to the Northcliff Water Tower – the second-highest point in Johannesburg. This area gives you a spectacular view of the city and one of the best sunsets/sunrises you will ever be exposed to. The area has 24-hour security, so safety is the last thing you need to worry about. Get a bottle of your favourite bubbly and head up to the cliff for a spectacular end to the day (or an early start of one).
