Celeb Couples We Love

by Amanda Ndlangisa

Maintaining a relationship is difficult, maintaining a relationship in the public eye is even more difficult; but people do get through. Here’s a list of 6 celeb couples who have managed to do both.

SALAMINA AND TSHEPO ‘HOWZA MOSESE

Salamina and Howza

This couple met while they were working on Backstage. They were friends for a while and then started dating after Backstage came to an end. They have been married for five years now.

Why we love them: We love how they have managed to keep their relationship private for so long.

MDUDUZI (MANDOZA) AND MPHO TSHABALALA

Mandoza-and-Mpho

Mpho and Mandoza met around 1998. When Mandoza saw Mpho for the first time, she turned him down but he didn’t give up. They met again at the same place and Mandoza tried again. This time, Mpho gave him a chance. The couple has been married for 10 years now.

Why we love them: Mandoza and Mpho almost divorced and they have had so much bad press but this hasn’t stopped the couple from pushing the love.

WANDILE AND JESSICA MOLEBATSI

Wandile-and-Jess

Jessica is a fashion designer and these two met on the set of the film A Million Colours in 2010 which Wandile was acting in. It was love at first action for the couple.

Why we love them: Despite people looking at them weird and talking about their multi – racial relationship, the couple stays strong because they know that the bond that binds them is much stronger than anything.

TEBOGO (FAMOUSLY KNOWN AS DJ VIGILANTE) AND RETHABILE SEEMA

Vigi-and-Rethabile

Ironically this couple went to the same high school but while there, they only had a good platonic friendship. Only when they were both done with school and accidentally met at tertiary did the sparks fly. He asked her out on a date and it’s been love ever since.

Why we love them: They are just too cute; Tebogo explains what he loves about Rethabile. “Her smile, the way she carries herself as a woman, a young intelligent lady and her off-beat sense of humour. I’m not going to lie about it but her looks also attracted me to her, my wife is beautiful. I saw her as a wife who would raise up a great family like the way I was taught. She defines love, values and perfection to me. Thus we’ve grown to love and respect everything about one another”.

LLYOD AND JANICE CELE

lloyd-and-Janice

Janice and Lloyd met in 2002 in Durban, at church. They were in the youth ministries and they were both part of the band. The first thing that attracted Lloyd to Janice was her legs. They became friends for two years before Lloyd coughed up enough courage to ask her out.

Why we love them: The couple has grown since they have been together; Lloyd explains that when they started dating, things were different. He used to be very aggressive, whenever they’d fight, he would throw his phone or storm out. But now with growth, they handle things much better. They talk about everything, and make sure they don’t go to bed angry. That’s the spirit.

MANDLA N AND TUMI FROM GANG OF INSTRUMENTS AND CITY SESLA

Tumi-and-Mandla

This couple met at college in 2000, they were in the same year, same class. Tumi explains that at first, she thought Mandla was too lokshin for her and rough around the edges. Mandla says Tumi was a snob with no fashion sense who was in the middle of an identity crisis.

Why we love them: Couples that usually work together don’t stay together, but this couple proves us wrong. Though they say it’s a challenges, because when something goes wrong at work it affects the home, as they carry that home with them, however they’ve been working together since they’ve been together so they know no other life.
