Court raises concerns over child’s welfare
During proceedings, the court heard that documentation was still required to verify the child’s identity and circumstances. Social services may need to assess the situation to help ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
The State also indicated that Kenneth’s original immigration documents remained outstanding and needed to be obtained and verified. The outstanding checks have affected the progress of his case.

How the smartwatch allegedly changed hands
The three accused — Kenneth, Stephen Mahlakwane Sekhukhune and Danial Anthony Moat — face charges linked to the alleged theft, possession and disposal of Tsontso’s smartwatch, as well as money laundering.
According to the State, Kenneth allegedly acquired the device for R900 from an unidentified individual before selling it to Stephen. Stephen allegedly registered the watch to his Gmail account after the original profile information and settings had been erased, before selling it to Danial for R4,000.
Danial allegedly advertised the smartwatch on social media and sold it to another person. The State has said there was insufficient evidence to charge that individual.
2 Accused granted bail
Stephen and Danial have been granted bail of R10,000 each, while Kenneth remains in custody as issues surrounding his immigration documentation are addressed. The matter was postponed for further investigations, with the other two accused expected back in court on 9 December 2026.
Tsontso, 38, went missing after leaving her home in Kempton Park for a run on 9 September 2026. Her body was discovered three days later.
The smartwatch case is separate from the investigation into her murder. The three men have not been charged with her killing, and the allegations against them in the smartwatch matter have yet to be proven in court.
