Tyla scores 2nd BET Soul Train nomination

South African superstar Tyla has been nominated for the R&B/Soul Song of the Year Award at the Soul Train Awards for her hit single Chanel. The awards will air on 27 November 2026 at 02:00.

Tyla’s Soul Train nomination

This will be the Grammy Award winner’s second nomination at the Soul Train Awards, following her first nomination for Best New Artist in 2023. Furthermore, Soul Train Awards’ parent company, BET, honoured Tyla with two awards in 2024 for Best New Artist and Best International Act.

For the first time, home viewers will decide who wins the R&B/ Soul Song of the Year award. A voting portal will be on the official BET website from 16 October 2026. This is where viewers and fans can send in their votes for who they would like to take home the award.

Soul Train category nominations

Tems is also nominated in this category for her hit single What You Need. The category recognises two of Africa’s biggest names in music. The two African artists are nominated alongside Olivia Dean for her hit record Man I Need, Khelani’s Folded, Bruno Mars’ I Just Might, and Brent Faiyaz’ Butterflies, amongst other names.
