The stage is officially set for the 2026 MTN8 final, with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirming Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban as the venue for the highly anticipated clash between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The final will take place on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at 18:00, giving supporters plenty of time to prepare for one of the biggest fixtures on the South African football calendar.
The venue announcement was made by the PSL yesterday afternoon, 28 September, ending weeks of uncertainty over where the two MTN8 finalists would meet.
Orlando Pirates chasing 5 in a row
Orlando Pirates head into the final as defending champions, chasing an unprecedented fifth consecutive MTN8 title.
The Buccaneers booked their place in the final after overcoming Sekhukhune United 4-0 on aggregate, including a 3-0 victory in the second leg at the Orlando Amstel Arena on 29 August 2026.
Pirates’ remarkable run in the competition has seen them lift the trophy in each of the previous four editions, beginning in 2022.
A victory in Durban would extend their record-breaking run and add another chapter to their recent dominance of the competition.

Mamelodi Sundowns return to the final
Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the decider after edging Golden Arrows in a dramatic two-legged semi-final.
The Brazilians overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit by winning the second leg 3-2 at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium on 30 August 2026, advancing on away goals.
The final gives Sundowns another opportunity to lift the MTN8 trophy, having won the competition in 2021.

Familiar setting for the MTN8 final
According to the PSL, the Durban venue will host this year’s showpiece, continuing its long association with the competition. The stadium has hosted numerous previous MTN8 finals, including several involving Orlando Pirates.
The decision also means KwaZulu-Natal football fans will have the opportunity to watch two of South Africa’s biggest clubs battle for silverware on home soil.
Tickets go on sale this week
The PSL has confirmed that general access tickets will cost R150 and will go on sale online from 10:00 on Friday, 2 October 2026.
Tickets will be available through Open Tickets, with supporters limited to four tickets per person. The PSL has also warned fans to purchase tickets only through the official platform and avoid unauthorised sellers.
Hospitality tickets will also be available, with further match-day information expected to be released by the league.
Pirates and Sundowns set for another MTN8 showdown
The upcoming final adds another chapter to the long-running rivalry between Pirates and Sundowns.
With Pirates pursuing a fifth successive MTN8 crown and Sundowns looking to reclaim the trophy for the first time since 2021, the 10 October showdown at Moses Mabhida Stadium promises to draw significant attention from football supporters across the country.
