The Scorpion Kings took over FNB Stadium this weekend for an epic night of music, enjoyment, and celebration, but the security detail brought about mixed reactions among internet users.

Scorpion Kings’ security ‘triggers’ fans

TikTok content creator @alpharoyce_, who attended the Scorpion Kings event, shared a video expressing her anger at the government over its carelessness regarding women’s safety in the country. In light of the recent discovery of the nine bodies in the Ekurhuleni area, the woman shared how her experience at the concert triggered her and made her feel disappointed in the government.

The online user described the contrast in safety at the concert compared to everyday life.

“You can tell that they really put in an effort to make sure that people felt safe when they were going home,” she said. “Yet right now, in Kempton Park at night, the streets are dark… There’s no police visibility.”

The content creator felt that event coordinators were more intentional about the safety of women than the government was. Discourse ensued in the comment section of the creator’s video.
