Lloyiso opens up about the real meaning of self-love

South African singer Lloyiso has spoken candidly about self-love, revealing that personal achievements and physical changes have not necessarily translated into happiness.

The 27-year-old Eastern Cape-born artist, whose full name is Loyiso Gijana, recently shared a message online about accepting himself through difficult moments as well as happier seasons of his life.

Happiness beyond appearance

Lloyiso’s reflections highlight an increasingly familiar struggle: tying confidence and self-worth to appearance. As reported by Daily Sun, while he has worked towards his personal goals and changed his physique, he says he is learning that feeling good about himself cannot depend on looking a certain way.

His message is a reminder that self-love is not something that has to be earned after reaching a particular weight, body shape or milestone. Instead, acceptance can begin with recognising your worth in the present.

A journey, not a destination

The singer’s comments also acknowledge that self-love does not mean believing you are perfect. For Lloyiso, it means becoming more comfortable with who he is now, including the difficult emotions and experiences that form part of his journey.

His openness may resonate with anyone who has postponed self-acceptance while waiting for life, circumstances or their appearance to change.

Lloyiso’s message of acceptance

Lloyiso first gained national attention as a teenager when he competed on Idols SA in 2015. Although he did not win, his distinctive voice helped establish the foundation for his subsequent music career.

His latest reflections offer a simple but powerful lesson: self-love can start before the transformation.

Rather than waiting to become a different version of yourself, accepting who you are today can be an important step towards genuine confidence and well-being.
