South African dancer and musician Limpopo Boy, real name Robert Matome Thoka, has addressed the controversy surrounding a private video that was leaked online.

The performer reportedly discussed the video during an appearance on Podcast and Chill with MacG, offering his side of the story after weeks of speculation surrounding the footage.
Limpopo Boy’s comments come after his management previously condemned the circulation of the video, saying it had been obtained and distributed without his authorisation. The team described the incident as a serious violation of his privacy and said it was working with cybersecurity experts and legal representatives to investigate how the footage was obtained.
Limpopo Boy explains why he recorded the video
During the podcast discussion, Limpopo Boy reportedly claimed that he recorded the encounter as a form of protection after previously experiencing an alleged extortion attempt.
Social media posts about the interview quote him as saying he had recorded himself and the woman involved because he wanted evidence of what had happened.
His explanation appears to challenge some of the speculation that followed the video’s circulation, particularly around whether the encounter itself had been consensual.
Limpopo Boy has maintained that the recording was made with the intention of protecting himself, rather than for it to be publicly distributed.

Management previously condemned the leak
