Zakes Bantwini enters a new era with ‘Impatient’ and ‘You Never Know’

by Staff Bona

South African music heavyweight Zakes Bantwini is stepping into a new phase with the release of his latest double single, Impatient / You Never Know, released through international electronic label Anjunadeep.

As reported by IOL, the two-track project sees the Grammy Award-winning artist continue to push the boundaries of Afro-house while connecting with collaborators from South Africa and beyond.

For Bantwini, the move is another marker in a career that has consistently blended African musical identity with a global electronic sound. His 2023 Grammy win for Best Global Music Performance came alongside Wouter Kellerman and Nomcebo Zikode for Bayethe.

Fresh sounds, familiar collaborators

As reported by Slikour On Life, Impatient reunites Bantwini with fellow South African producer Sun-El Musician, with emerging vocalist kisskisskiss also contributing to the track. The collaboration brings together two influential names in South African electronic music while introducing a newer voice to the mix.

Meanwhile, You Never Know features Jordan Arts, the South African-born, London-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Arts has already received support from international electronic music figures including David Guetta, Paul van Dyk and Lane 8.

Why this release matters

The Anjunadeep debut positions Zakes Bantwini within a broader international electronic music conversation. Rather than simply revisiting the sound that established him, the release suggests an artist continuing to experiment, collaborate and expand his audience.

Both tracks are available on streaming platforms, allowing listeners to hear this latest chapter in Bantwini’s evolving musical journey.
