Actress and entrepreneur Tebogo Thobejane has revisited the scene where she survived an alleged hit in a deeply emotional moment, just as the attempted murder trial involving businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and his co-accused gets underway.

Tebogo, who was shot in October 2023 while travelling in a vehicle in Sandton, returned to the location ahead of the high-profile trial. Sharing the moment on social media, she reflected on the traumatic experience and her journey towards healing. According to reports, the actress said revisiting the scene was part of reclaiming her strength after the life-changing ordeal.
Taking to her Instagram story, the former Muvhango actress penned: “I will never forget this day; it changed my life forever. Today I stand with nothing but gratitude. To God, my ancestors and everyone who prayed for me, thank you.
“People can say whatever they want, but they’ll never know what it feels like to walk in my shoes. I survived what many thought I never would.”

Trial finally begins
The visit comes as Cat, his wife Tsakani Matlala, and three co-accused appear before the Johannesburg High Court to face charges linked to three separate alleged attempted murder incidents.
According to eNCA, the accused face 25 charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and other related offences. Prosecutors allege that the group orchestrated attacks targeting Tebogo, businessman Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie Mokubung, popularly known as DJ Vettys. The accused have denied the allegations.
Tebogo Thobejane makes an emotional return
Images and videos shared online show Tebogo standing at the location where the shooting took place. The actress has previously spoken about the physical and emotional toll of the attack, revealing that she continues to deal with the trauma long after the incident.
Her return to the scene has resonated with many South Africans, with supporters praising her courage and resilience as she continues to seek justice.

Speaking outside court, Tebogo expressed relief that the matter is finally being heard after months of delays. She has consistently maintained that she is hopeful the legal process will uncover the truth and provide accountability for those responsible.
