Reflecting on the day, which championed Country Allure as the theme, Modise shared wth BONA that one of the highlights was seeing racegoers bring energy and individuality to one of South Africa’s biggest social occasions.
For Modise, who wore House of Nala, the style on display was one of the standout features of the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
Teko Modise’s expectations
Modise said he had expected to see vibrant crowds embracing the excitement of race day while showcasing their creativity through fashion – something he felt the event delivered. Modise’s comments reinforced why the Hollywoodbets Durban July remains one of the country’s most anticipated fashion events.
When asked about the positive changes he wanted to see in the world of fashion, Modise told the publication:
“I don’t think there are any major changes I’d make. Instead, I’d encourage people to fully express themselves through fashion, embrace their individuality, and continue pushing creative boundaries without fear.”

What influences Teko Modise’s personal style?
Speaking about his own fashion journey, Modise said his personal style had been influenced by several aspects of his life.
He explained that his upbringing, the cities he had travelled to, and the experiences that had helped him grow all played a role in shaping the way he dressed.
Rather than calling for major changes in the fashion world, Modise encouraged people to embrace their individuality and use clothing as a way to express themselves.
Taking to Instagram, Modise shared a behind-the-scenes look at his outfit, noting that the bespoke approach allowed him to “take that expression even further, celebrating individuality through garments that are truly one of a kind.”
He further stated, “Creativity and self-expression have always been part of my DNA. They have taught me that the boundaries we often perceive are rarely fixed. Through fashion, I can express different facets of my identity and show up with confidence and intention.”
