The FIFA World Cup knockout stage continues with an intriguing Round of 32 encounter as the Ivory Coast takes on Norway in a winner-takes-all showdown later this evening, 30 June 2022, at 7pm.

After an impressive group stage campaign, the Ivory Coast team have reached the knockout rounds full of confidence. The African country finished second in Group E, securing historic progression with disciplined performances and a squad that has blended youthful energy with experienced leadership.  

Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande has emerged as one of the tournament’s breakout stars, while veterans Franck Kessié, Ibrahim Sangaré, and Nicolas Pépé provide invaluable experience at both ends of the pitch.

Ivory Coast v Norway: A match to watch

Standing in their way is a dangerous Norway side led by prolific striker Erling Haaland. Norway progressed from Group I after displaying attacking firepower throughout the group stage, with Haaland proving one of the tournament’s most lethal finishers.  

Norway’s captain, Martin Ødegaard, will also be key as Norway look to control possession and create chances against the physical Ivorians. 

This match promises to be a fascinating tactical battle. Ivory Coast will aim to use their pace on the wings and aggressive pressing to unsettle Norway’s defence. 

It will be the first time these two teams play against each other.
