Leleti Khumalo shows twins’ Sarafina! recreation
Taking to her Instagram account on Youth Day, the actress, who was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) by Rhodes University, shared that a few years ago, her children’s school invited her to the learning institution.
The twins, whom she shared with businessman Skhuthazo Winston Khanyile, and their peers surprised Leleti with the performance, which she shared online.
“It was the cutest, most heartwarming thing, and I was beyond honoured,” she wrote. “May the ones who come after us always never forget where we come from. May we who come before them always pave the way for a better tomorrow and endless opportunities. May the struggle of June 16 1976, never be in vain.”

What is Sarafina! about?
Sarafina! tells the story of a young Black South African teen, Sarafina, struggling for freedom during the apartheid era.
While she was initially hesitant to speak out against the apartheid government, the push to make Afrikaans the official language at her school inspired her to join fellow students in protesting on the streets. Her opposition to the regime deepens further when her favourite teacher is arrested for taking part in anti-government demonstrations.
The movie, originally a musical, was created by South African playwright and lyricist Mbongeni Ngema, with additional songs by ‘the father of South African jazz,’ Hugh Masekela.
