South African sprint sensation Bayanda Walaza announced his return to his winning ways with a commanding victory in the men’s 100 metres at the prestigious Ostrava Golden Spike meeting in Czechia last night.

The 20-year-old rising star produced a blistering performance against a strong international field, reminding the athletics world why he remains one of South Africa’s brightest prospects.
Walaza’s victory marked an important milestone in his 2026 campaign as he bounced back from recent setbacks to claim top honours at one of Europe’s most respected athletics meetings.
He produced a statement performance, storming to victory in the men’s 100m in a blistering 9.94 seconds.

Walaza first captured global attention when he helped the country secure Olympic silver in the 4x100m relay at the Paris Games before going on to claim double gold in the 100m and 200m at the World Under-20 Championships.
