Peet Viljoen faces the law at OR Tambo

The disgraced lawyer arrived from the United States after being held at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centre, after being accused of shoplifting.

According to eNCA, Peet was arrested on charges of fraud, theft, and corruption linked to allegations dating back to 2010. The publication adds that he also made derogatory statements about Black people and South Africa online.

Entertainment commentator Bianca van Wyk reshared a clip from Netwerk24 that showed Peet leaving the airport and entering an unmarked vehicle with non-uniformed men.

Speculating about the arrest, Bianca wrote, “It is reportedly regarding the Johannesburg Metro Properties case that he was arrested for alongside eight other suspects; three suspects pleaded guilty in 2011. However, the case has been dragging on for years and was removed from the roll. It seems it may be back on the roll again.”
