According to Briefly News, Tony Yengeni, the party’s Second Deputy President, urged supporters to back Jacob Zuma in the upcoming elections. Speaking to the crowd, Yengeni pointed to Zuma’s age as a reason for voters to honour him at the ballot box.

“Everyone must vote for Nxamalala. Next year, Jacob Zuma will turn 85 years old. At 85, he is still alive and walking on his own. You must give him a birthday gift, and the best birthday gift for Comrade Jacob Zuma would be a two-thirds majority on 4 November.”

Jacob Zuma’s fall goes viral

While some South African social media users criticised his fitness for leadership, people favouring Zuma praised his resilience.

After seeing the video, @matigary remarked, “There is a time old folks must admit they are no longer fit and agile. There is a time for everything.”

“He is the most loved, the strongest 84-year-old. We love him, and we are many. Trust me,” @MGAZIR1 added.

@tsitso09 wrote in the comment section, “He must just be careful not to break his legs. At 84, it is very difficult to heal. Anyway, he can afford the most expensive wheelchair.”
