Tshegofatso Mabasa is among the six Orlando Pirates players who have confirmed they will not be part of the club any longer. Known as the โ€˜Sniperโ€™, he joined the club eight years ago from Bloemfontein Celtic. Mabasa went on to make 141 appearances for Pirates, scoring 50 goals in the process.

The lead-up to Tshegofatso Mabasa’s exit

In the last six months, he was surprisingly sent on loan to Stellenbosch, leaving Orlando Pirates with Yanela Mbuthuma and Evidence Makgopa as the main men in attack. Fans of Orlando Pirates were anticipating him to return to the club, but he has unfortunately been let go alongside others, including Thabitso Lebitso, Bandile Shandu, Sipho Mbule, Karim Kimvuidi, and Deivi Miguel Vieira.

Farewell

In his farewell note, Mabasa expressed appreciation for the opportunity to represent Pirates and thanked the fans for their support. On his note, he shared:

โ€œToday, I leave this great institution with immense gratitude and pride. Thank you to Orlando Pirates for allowing me to be part of a club whose history and legacy will forever remain close to my heart.”

The heartfelt message went on to thank players, coaches, and the staff members with whom Mabasa shared his journey.
