Fans of actress Gugu Gumede have reason to celebrate after it was announced that she will lead the cast of e.tv’s upcoming drama series, eGagasini: Waves of Change.

The talented actress, best known for her memorable portrayal of MaMlambo on Uzalo, is set to take on a new challenge as Phumelela Dube, a strong and ambitious woman navigating the complexities of family, love, and power in the coastal city of Durban.

A fresh chapter for Gugu Gumede

The new role marks another significant milestone in Gugu’s acting career. Over the years, she has become one of South Africa’s most recognisable television stars, earning praise for her ability to bring depth and authenticity to every character she portrays.

What is eGagasini: Waves of Change about?

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Durban’s music industry, the drama follows the lives of three friends from Umlazi who dream of making it big in the music business. As they chase success, a tragic secret from the past threatens to unravel their ambitions and relationships.

The series explores themes of ambition, loyalty, betrayal, love, and resilience, offering audiences a fresh and captivating South African story.

A star-studded cast

Joining Gugu in the highly anticipated production is a talented ensemble cast led by veteran actor Meshack Mavuso, who stars as Senzo Dube, a legendary music producer and founder of Umlilo Records.

The cast also includes Nolwazi Tsebesha as Noxolo Dube, Senzo and Phumelela’s daughter, as well as Aphelele Shezi as Njabulo, an ambitious music producer determined to make his mark in the industry.

Also featured are Nomfundo Radebe as Sihle, a talented vocalist chasing her dreams, and Londeka Mkhwanazi as Lwandle, a gifted singer whose life is shaped by difficult choices.

The supporting cast includes Ntando Mncube, Duduzile Ngcobo, Mduduzo Nombela, and Anele Nene, adding further depth to the production.
