Reality TV star Brandon Mthombeni, popularly known as Gash1, is turning a painful personal chapter into a moment of reflection. Following his highly publicised split from wife and fellow reality TV personality Thato Immaculate, the former Big Brother Mzansi star has shared his lessons on love.

Love requires more than feelings

Taking to his Facebook account, Gash1 reshared a video that was previously shared on Instagram in 2025. He stated that love requires focus and goes beyond the words ‘I love you.’ He pointed out that small gestures, such as preparing breakfast for your partner, often carry deep meaning in relationships.

“So tomorrow don’t just worry about whether you said ‘I love you.’ Did you show your person that you love them today?” added Gash1 as he ended the clip.

As reported by Daily Sun, Gash1 and Thato’s separation made headlines earlier this year, ending a relationship that many fans had followed since their romance began on television. While the breakup sparked widespread discussion on social media, Gash1’s recent message has focused less on the end of the relationship and more on his view of love.

Internet reacts to Gash1’s relationship advice

His reflections have resonated with many followers who praised his willingness to speak openly about relationships without assigning blame, while others wondered about his current relationship status.

“Words of wisdom, Gash1,” commented one Facebook user.

Noticing the ring on his finger, another asked, “So y’all are still together?”

For many South Africans navigating their own relationship journeys, the sharing of his message is a reminder that heartbreak can also be an opportunity for growth.

As public interest in the former couple remains high, Gash1 appears focused, with the reshare of his love lessons leading many internet users to think intentionally about healthy connections.
