The family of Maria McCloy has confirmed the passing of the respected South African media figure, DJ, publicist and fashion designer at the age of 50.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the McCloy family shared that Maria McCloy passed away on 12 May 2026 at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg following heart failure.
“It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we confirm the passing of our beloved sister and media industry giant, Maria McCloy (50),” the statement read.
Known for her vibrant personality and creative influence, Maria McCloy built a respected name for herself in South Africa’s entertainment and fashion industries. She was celebrated for her work as a DJ, publicist and fashion designer, earning admiration from colleagues, friends and fans alike.

Maria McCloy is survived by her mother and her two sisters, Thandiwe and Natasha, along with extended family members and close friends who are mourning her loss.
