As the music industry continues to mourn Winnie Khumalo, Rethabile is keeping her mother’s legacy alive through the one thing she loved the most – music.

As reported by Briefly News, the late Afro-pop star passed away in January 2025, and Rethabile has since poured her grief into a heartfelt tribute album.

The body of work, Kwelizayo, is described as a deeply personal reflection on loss and love, according to The South African.

Through this project, Rethabile reveals her most authentic self. The album explores both struggle and hope, offering comfort not only to her but to fans walking a similar path.

It comes after the success of her October 2025 single Amaphupho, which has been a firm favourite on radio.

Rethabile has been very open about how difficult her healing process has been — calling it the hardest journey of her life.

Previously, she has ensured that one of her mother’s business dreams come true by opening a mobile kitchen.
