Easter is almost upon us. It’s so near we can almost taste the chocolate bunnies and marshmallow eggs! Besides the chocolate overload, why not gather your kids and prepare your garden for an exciting Easter egg hunt? Get your family outdoors and active, and let them earn all the yummy delights coming their way.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get everything ready:

Plan the layout: Before you get your family together, you might want to survey your garden and decide where you’ll hide the eggs. Find 10-15 spots that would make for a good hiding space.

Gather supplies: Collect all the necessary supplies for the Easter egg hunt, including plastic eggs, chocolate bunnies, marshmallow eggs or any other delicious treats to fill them. You can also hide little clue cards to keep the game exciting. Create little baskets for collecting eggs, and any additional decorations or props you might want to use.

Inspect the area: Before setting up, inspect the garden for any hazards such as sharp objects, poisonous plants, or areas where participants could trip or fall. Take note of things like ponds, unstable rocks or thorny rose bushes. Mitigate these hazards by cordoning off these areas to ensure a safe environment for the hunt.

Invite participants: Send out invitations to friends, family, or neighbours, inviting them to join in the Easter egg hunt festivities. Encourage them to dress in their best Easter outfit, considering that they need to be able to move around comfortably.

Decorate: Add festive decorations to the garden to create a cheerful atmosphere for the Easter egg hunt. Consider using banners, balloons, ribbons, and other decorations to enhance the festive ambience.

Hide the eggs: Hide the eggs throughout your garden. Be creative and vary the hiding spots from high areas to low ones to make the hunt more challenging and exciting for participants of all ages.

Set up stations: If you want to incorporate additional activities or games into the Easter egg hunt, set up stations around the garden where participants can complete tasks or challenges to earn extra treats or prizes.

Establish rules: Establish clear rules for the Easter egg hunt, including guidelines for how many eggs each participant can collect, where they’re allowed to search, and any safety precautions they need to follow.

Prepare refreshments: Depending on the duration of the Easter egg hunt, consider providing refreshments such as snacks, drinks, or a light meal for participants to enjoy afterwards.

Have fun! On the day of the Easter egg hunt, relax and enjoy the festivities with your guests. Take plenty of photos to capture the memories, and don’t forget to join in the hunt yourself!
