Jub Jub takes charge of his health with liposuction after years of belly fat struggles

by Zaghrah Anthony

Jub Jub embraces a new chapter in his health journey

TV personality and rapper Jub Jub, born Molemo Maarohanye, has taken a bold step in tackling a challenge he’s battled for years: stubborn belly fat. In a candid social media post, he revealed that he will be undergoing liposuction, documenting his preparation at Herrwood Medical Centre.

Years of frustration

Jub Jub explained that his decision comes after multiple attempts to shed the fat using traditional methods, including diet adjustments and medication like Ozempic. “It’s been a rough couple of years with this here belly. I got time to maintain it, but I don’t have time to lose it. Even with this, I still gotta maintain a good diet plan,” he wrote on Instagram.

In a video from the clinic, a doctor was seen marking his stomach, highlighting the areas targeted for fat removal. Jub Jub’s honesty about his journey, including previous weight-loss attempts, resonated with fans across social media.

“I tried everything from Ozempic, whatever injections, all those funny things, you know,” he said, reflecting the frustration many South Africans feel when lifestyle changes alone aren’t enough to tackle persistent body issues.

Following a growing trend among celebrities

Jub Jub joins a growing list of South African celebrities openly prioritising health and wellness. Actress Gugu Gumede, for instance, has frequently shared how her gastric sleeve surgery two years ago transformed her life — boosting her energy, confidence, and presence as a mother.

Meanwhile, figures in the music industry like Shimza and the Major League DJz have chosen a different route: consistent fitness and lifestyle adjustments rather than surgical interventions. Their transformations are widely admired by fans, who celebrate their dedication despite hectic schedules and constant travel.

Beyond aesthetics

For Jub Jub, the decision appears to go beyond appearance. It’s a matter of reclaiming control over his body and health after years of frustration. The rapper’s openness reflects a shift in South African celebrity culture, where candid discussions about wellness, body image, and mental health are becoming increasingly normal.

Fans have flooded his social media posts with messages of support, praising his honesty and determination. Many parents and young followers see his approach as a reminder that tackling health challenges is a personal journey, one that sometimes requires both lifestyle changes and medical support.

Whether through surgery, exercise, or a combination of both, Jub Jub’s story highlights the importance of self-care and resilience, proving that even public figures face the same health hurdles as everyone else, and it’s never too late to take charge.
