Dineo Ranaka reacts to Nandi Madida’s views on grace for black men

by Zintle Mdaka

Media personality Dineo Ranaka has shared her opinion on Nandi Madida’s request to extend grace to black South African men.

This comes after Nandi sat down with L-Tido on his podcast, where she cited that black men have faced centuries of oppression, government pressure and pressure to succeed overnight.

Dineo recently took to her Instagram page to respectfully disagree with Nandi’s request, citing that women must guard their hearts because empathy without truth causes more harm.

Captioning her post, the radio host said “I’m expecting insults for this one. It’s ok though, black men aren’t what happened to them. They are what they choose to be.”

In the multiple slides she shared on her Instagram page, she said she is disturbed by what Nandi said, how she said it and to whom she was saying it to. She also mentioned the climate in which we live, and how what she said will be understood and misconstrued by the very men she is campaigning empathy for.

“Analyse the things they say, the things they do, especially the things they do. Their intentions, how they move, the empathy they have for themselves, or lack thereof,” penned Dineo.

She also advised that the history of black South African men should also be analysed, as well as what their nation has been put through.

Dineo further shared that she would like to have a conversation with Nandi and unpack the empathy, as she is interested to understand Nandi’s view point.

“Before a ‘system’ affects an individual, it impacts a people. My example stands,” said Dineo.
