It is just a few more weeks to go until a new Miss South Africa is expected to be crowned, and the organisation is faced with yet another setback.
It appears that having a seamless run is something the organisation can only dream about. This comes as they have continued to face an enormous amount of adversity, from the controversy surrounding one of its former contestants, Chidimma Adetshina, to the departure of some important staff, and more recently, the bullying allegations made against current contender Bridgett Jones. There simply seems to be no break.
The organisation recently held a press gathering where they shared that one of its Top 10 contestants, Lebohang Msimanga, has decided to withdraw from the competition.
Speaking at the briefing, PR specialist Nhlanhla Shezi said: “At this time, to best serve her individual part and well-being, the organisation respects and honours her decision, recognising that true empowerment includes the freedom to make a choice aligned with one’s authentic self.”
Meanwhile, she added that the organisation will continue to prioritise purpose, authenticity, and meaningful participation, and has decided not to replace Lebohang.
“Each finalist has been selected for their unique voice and vision, and the competition will proceed with the remaining candidates who are fully committed to the UIA mission and responsibilities of representing South Africa on a continental stage,” she added.
The grand finale is set to take place on the 25th October at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria.
