End of era for etv Scandal! – Internet reacts

After over twenty years of keeping Mzansi glued to their screens, etv has announced a final curtain call for daily drama, Scandal!

While many expressed shock after this revelation, some shared that they saw it coming. The entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela, took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share the etv statement.

“The SAFTA award-winning soap opera Scandal! will conclude its broadcast on etv in June 2026, marking the conclusion of more than 20 years of continuous production and viewership,” read the statement.

Etv conveyed their gratitude to the production house behind etv Scandal!

“Etv extends its deepest gratitude to Ochre Media, the production company behind Scandal! for their unwavering creativity and partnership throughout the years. The channel also pays tribute to the talented cast and dedicated crew, writers, directors, producers, technicians and all those behind the scenes whose artistry, commitment and passion have been central to the show’s remarkable success and longevity.”

Scandal! aired for over two decades, introducing different families and characters. Recently, the family introduced t0 the viewers the More family and the community of Ethembeni. The change on the show led to a debate on the internet, with many arguing that it feels like they are watching a different show.
