Comedian, actor, and voice-over artist Sabelo Gumede took a step to launch a GoFundMe page after he was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer earlier this year.

Sabelo took to his Instagram page to share his diagnosis and how everyone can donate. He said  he has been diagnosed with a rare but chemotherapy-responsive cancer called choriocarcinoma.

He explained that the cancer has spread through his lymph nodes to his neck, abdomen, lungs, spine, and diaphragm. “It took over 3 months of back-to-back tests and more than R100,000 before I finally got answers,” he wrote on his GoFundMe page. He shared that his medical aid has been covering his medication.

“For now I’m managing. But with two-three months left, I fear the future—living healthy is nearly three times more expensive than normal, and if my body doesn’t continue reacting well to treatment, I may be in financial trouble.

“I’ve been very fortunate to work good paying jobs so money has not been an issue but I’m not working currently and my savings is depleting by the day,” said Sabelo.

He also shared a video clip where he was explaining more about his GoFundMe page. In the caption of his post, he said: “My oncologist has been telling me this disease is firstly defeated mentally, and then the meds do the other half of the work. All the texts and DM’s I get everyday really motivate me and help me feel better about the entire thing so thank you guys gang once again,” he penned.
