Teyana Taylor Calls $70K Divorce Payment “Best Money Ever Spent”

by Zaghrah Anthony

Even the richest and most famous celebrities face challenges that money can’t always fix—but sometimes, it can buy peace. Teyana Taylor, singer, dancer, and actress, recently shared her thoughts on a $70,000 USD (about R1.2 million) payment to ex-husband Iman Shumpert following their divorce. And surprisingly, she called it the best money she’s ever spent.

Paying for Peace

The hefty sum came after a court found Taylor in contempt for publicly discussing their divorce, violating a gag order. The payment covered Shumpert’s legal fees, yet Taylor’s response was far from regretful.

“If it’s going to give me my peace and we can be done with this for good, I sent that wire so fast,” she told The Breakfast Club radio show.

Her perspective underscores a lesson many can relate to: sometimes the cost of closure is worth every penny.

Life After Seven Years

Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert, who share two daughters, Junie, 9, and Rue Rose, 4 ended their seven-year marriage amid public scrutiny. Taylor has been candid about the emotional toll, particularly with ongoing media speculation and rumors.

“Every time something wonderful occurs in my life, it’s something related to this divorce,” she said, hinting at frustration over Shumpert allegedly leaking information to the press.

Despite the attention, Taylor emphasizes that protecting her peace and reclaiming her voice, was non-negotiable.

A Universal Lesson on Privacy and Closure

For celebrities, relationships unfold under a public microscope, and private pain becomes headline fodder. Taylor’s story highlights the tension between privacy, financial decisions, and emotional well-being.

“I will never have to deal with this again. I will never allow a person to silence me,” she shared.

Her reflections remind us all that sometimes, financial sacrifices, big or small are worthwhile if they allow you to move forward with dignity and calm.

With the legal matters behind her, Taylor is embracing new beginnings both personally and professionally. Her candidness offers a poignant example of how to navigate the complex intersection of fame, family, and personal peace.
