Natural remedies to whiten stained teeth

by Sergio Miller

We all desire to have a perfect smile. There is not much that can compare to the feeling of being surrounded by family and friends at an important gathering and being able to confidently show off your pearly whites when posing for a picture with your loved ones.

However, this is not the reality for everyone. Because of lifestyle factors that result in tooth discolouration, many people go through life ashamed of showing off their teeth.

They try to hide their teeth and hope that nobody notices or points out the fact that the shade and colour are not what they are supposed to be.

In most instances, this might not be permanent, and there are multiple ways in which it can be corrected.

“Tooth discoloration is when the color of your teeth changes. They might appear yellowed or less bright, or they may develop white or dark flecks. Causes include tobacco use, dental trauma, poor oral hygiene, and certain foods, drinks, and medications. Whitening treatments, bonding, and veneers are just a few treatment options,” explained the health and wellness publication Cleveland Clinic.

While most causes of tooth discolouration may be because of poor lifestyle choices, this is not always the case. There are often certain factors that one cannot control, including things like aging or dental trauma.

With proper dental care, it is, however, possible to restore the colour of your teeth in no time.

Below is a list of ways in which you can whiten your stained teeth as recommended by the above-mentioned publication:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Dental bonding
  • Porcelin Veneers
  • Dental Crowning

Furthermore, visiting a dentist is not the only way to get your teeth whitened. There are several natural remedies you can use to whiten your teeth.

According to Healthline these include:

  • Oil Pulling – Swishing coconut oil around in your mouth to get rid of bacteria.
  • Brushing with baking soda – this creates an alkaline environment in your mouth that prevents bacteria from growing.
  • Fruits and vegetables – fruits like strawberries and pineapples are regarded as ideal and are often used by celebrities to get rid of plaque and staining.
