Paul Mashatile declares ownership of R28.9m Constantia mansion; citizens smell a rat

In an interesting turn of events, Deputy President Paul Mashatile has suddenly declared ownership of a Constantia mansion worth R28.9m, leaving the masses to wonder how a public servant managed to afford that.

At a time when all eyes are on South Africa’s leaders following the explosive Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi press briefing, deputy president Paul Mashatile finds himself as the next politician to enter the hot seat as citizens demand answers.

This comes after the deputy president suddenly opted to declare ownership of a Constantia mansion valued at approximately R28.9m, despite his office denying any ownership approximately two years prior.

Initially, the luxurious seven-bedroom home was intended to be used as a guesthouse. However, sources have revealed to News24 that a Presidential Protection Service detail is stationed at the mansion, suggesting that the deputy president might reside there from time-to-time.

This declaration conveniently comes after a Hawks investigation revealed some interesting information, including that the deputy president reportedly benefits from properties acquired through his son-in-law Nceba Nonkwelo, as reported by News24.

Furthermore, this revelation comes in addition to the R37m Waterfall home which he declared as his primary residence, and has raised the public’s suspicions regarding the source of the funds for these luxurious homes.

These developments have garnered some attention and backlash across social media, as users highlight how the deputy president and his office previously misled parliament.

These users believe that he should face the consequences, as he is not above the law. Furthermore, some netizens have questioned how he as a public servant managed to put together the funds for the extravagant life he leads.
