Chidimma Adetshina rejoices at Miss South Africa postponement

by Sergio Miller

Pageant lovers will have to wait a little longer to find out who will be crowned as the next Miss South Africa.

On Friday, the organisation announced the postponement of the eagerly awaited grand finale, which was scheduled to take place in August. The announcement comes at a time when the organisation saw a drastic change in its leadership, with CEO Stephanie Weil announcing her resignation earlier this month.

“The Miss South Africa Organisation today announced the postponement of Miss South Africa from August to a later date in 2025, to ensure greater alignment with international and other global events.

The organisation, through its affiliated companies, aims to broaden the reach and impact of the pageant and its contestants,” they revealed in a brief media statement.

They added, “The pillars of the Organisation will be expanded to include entrepreneurship, job creation, cultural awareness and social cohesion”.

Although it remains uncertain when exactly the pageant has been postponed to, the organisation promised to keep viewers and attendees informed with further updates.

Following this announcement, former Miss South Africa contestant and current Miss Universe Nigeria title holder, Chidimma Adetshina, shared her reaction to the current instability that appears to be brewing internally.

Responding to a post shared by the Miss SA Fandom page, she took to the comment section, sharing a picture of a man showing off a smirky smile.

Another user soon reacted to this, criticising the model for her actions and foul language in one of her replies.

To this she responded: “Awwww need a tissue? Why are you taking it personally? Relax, it’s not deep!”

Chidimma was axed from the 2024 Miss South Africa pageant following public concern about her true ethnicity. Later, the Home Affairs minister investigated her roots, through which it was later discovered that her mother entered South Africa illegally and allegedly committed identity theft.

This has since seen her getting invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria, a pageant in a country with strong ties to her father’s heritage.
