South African actor and musician Ntobeko Sishi has bravely shared the painful story of his upbringing. He revealed the emotional struggles which he faced after being rejected by his father.

Best known for his role as ‘Ntokozo’ in the popular TV drama series Gomora, Ntobeko’s real-life experiences eerily mirrored those of his character. In a heartfelt interview on the Inside Show Podcast with George Avakian, he opened up about the traumatic events that shaped his life.

His mother passed away when he was just six years old. This was at a time when their family was experiencing financial prosperity. After her passing, Ntobeko was left in the care of his father, but things took a devastating turn when his father disowned him about four years later.

Ntobeko recounted the painful memory of being sent away by his father, who told him he was no longer his son. At the tender age of 10, Ntobeko found himself alone at Durban Airport, unsure of where he would go or what the future held.

Despite the rejection, he held onto hope for a reunion with his father over the years. However, it wasn’t until 2020 that he received an unexpected Instagram message informing him that his father was hospitalised. He rushed to the hospital, only to find his father on life support. In a poignant moment, Ntobeko chose to forgive his father, letting go of the anger and hurt that had built up over the years.

His decision to forgive his father was not taken lightly. He admitted that it was a difficult process, but one that ultimately allowed him to find peace. “As angry as I was at him, I couldn’t say anything because the guy was like on machines and stuff. So, I just forgave him and told him I forgive him,” he shared.

Ntobeko admitted that his father’s rejection had a profound impact on his life, making it challenging for him to heal and move forward. “Rejection has been a huge part of my life, and kinda letting go of that part of my life, trying to make it have less of a negative impact on me. It’s been the biggest challenge,” he added.

The emotional interview sparked a wave of reactions from netizens, with many praising Ntobeko for his courage and forgiveness. Some also shared their own stories of rejection and struggle, while others commended him for being the bigger person in a difficult situation. Ntobeko’s story serves as a reminder of the power of forgiveness and the importance of healing from past wounds.

His bravery in sharing his story has resonated with many, offering a glimpse into the complexities of family dynamics and the lasting impact of rejection. His journey towards healing and forgiveness is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience and growth. As he continues to share his experiences with the world, his story will undoubtedly inspire others to confront their own struggles and find a path towards healing.
